What is New State Solutions ambition as a business?
“Our ambition is simply to drive up the quality of hires in organisations. We want to do our best to make sure that costs never outweigh value and to stick to simple principles that we deliver against. If we get that right, we will grow our brand by natural default and achieve more for our clients”
What challenges do you see clients facing when they look to hire?
“We are finding an increasing number of hiring managers who are the victims of automated and factory processed style recruitment models. Recruiters merely “discover public data” and match skills to vacancies, without truly understanding the specialism.
Then you have the other end of the scale, with the growth of complex assessment centres being used. They rightly set the bar high to ensure “ready to go” talent is hired, but the percentage of successful candidates from assessment to hire is often disappointingly low.
In summary, too many generalist recruiters, delivering too few quality candidates to the volumes demanded by business.
Hiring is an expensive game and this is an Industry challenge that will never entirely change”
What are you doing to differentiate yourselves?
“Firstly, we try to find the right clients who encourage proper collaboration directly with hiring managers. Depending on the recruitment model this is sometimes discouraged. We believe effective Partnerships yield the best results.
We also try to get the basics spot on, which we know can conveniently get airbrushed out of the process.
Things like technically testing the tool-kit of individuals and exploring the right behaviours and personalities is an investment up-front, that has to be done consistently to protect a client’s AC investment.
Our job isn’t to supply CV’s, but to make strong judgement calls on pre-screened talent, which no public data can ever provide.”
